Adventure in Imagination
Students use their creativity to create a imaginary world. This world is a planet far away that is different from earth in any way they imagaine. Once they imagine their world they have to create a map of it, creatures that live on it and design a building that can withstand the challenges of the planet. This unit covers many elements of art and has cross curricular conections to science social studies and others. Each entree below contains information including excepts from the art journal that students use in class.
A World Imagined
Each student imagines a world. I want students to make it as wild or strange as they can they are only restrained by their imagination and the requirements of the project. I stress the importance that students each make their planet different and do not make exact copies of places from our world, fiction or your fellow students. They can mix some elements of other worlds into their own creation but they need to change it enough to make it unique.

A New Lifeform
Pretend you are a biologist from the group of people who are colonizing the new planet that you imagined. You have discovered a new life form and must study it. You must take into consideration the environments and hazards on your world because they will effect the way your creature evolved into what it is today. You are going to create a sketch and fact sheet of the creature you discovered.
